NEWSLETTER 12-2-17

Congratulations Under-85s

Congrats to our Under-85s who kicked off the season on a highly positive note for the club by winning the inaugural BLK NZ invitational U85kg 7s tournament at Wainui yesterday.

They beat Kapiti 21-12, Tawa 17-0, Wainui 26-12 and Poneke 12-7 on their way to the final.

They played Wellington in the final and were locked at 19-19 before Anaru Atkins scored the winning try on fulltime.

Andrew Wharakura said all the boys played well with special mention of Levi Grace and Jacob Walmsley.

Athletic Rugby Football Club fundraiser book promotion

Good morning club presidents, chairs & club captains.

On behalf of Neven MacEwan, (former Athletic Rugby Club, Wellington representative and All Black in a playing career from 1954-67). He has written a book detailing his personal experiences in an overseas tour taken by the Athletic Rugby Football Club in the 60s. It provides an insight of the humour, travel tales and the slice of life of the swinging 60s. Indeed a historian could find their tale useful. There is something for almost everyone herein.

This book is not being distributed through bookshops and it has been offered to the rugby community to sell as a means of fundraising. Its cost is $34 and for every book sold your club or organisation receives $5. Should you sell 20 or more books, you will retain $10 per each book sold.
If your club is keen to support Neven and his book please get in touch with me for his contact details.

Cheers,
Mila (Milz)
